Best Natural, Simple, and Quality Baby Items

July 10, 2023 by Librarian

Here are the best natural, simple, and quality baby items to give as gifts or register for on your registry.

We use affiliate links and may earn commission from purchases made through those links. All opinions are our own.

Baby Gear

These items tend to be more on the expensive side, so they’re perfect to give as group gifts or to ask for on your registry. I would buy each of these items again! They’re quality items that can be used for multiple kids.

Graco Simply Sway Swing

There are lots of fancier swings out there, but many include too much technology – like bluetooth. Personally, I avoid bluetooth because babies are so sensitive, and we truly don’t know that much about how bluetooth affects us.

Babybjorn Balance Bouncer Soft

Again, I like to avoid technology when it comes to where my baby will spend a lot of time. This bouncer is great because it requires no technology, and it grows with your child into a toddler seat. Also, the bouncer fabric can be removed and washed.

Ergobaby Omni 360 All-Position Baby Carrier

I would much rather have one item that can grow with my baby rather than multiple similar items that don’t grow with my baby. This baby carrier can be used for newborns through 45 pound kids! Plus, it’s ergonomic and good for babies’ hips, which is important as they grow. Plus, I can put my toddler in the carrier by myself.

Lotus Travel Crib

We got the Lotus Adventure & Travel set, and I’m so glad we did! It comes with a mosquito net (perfect for evenings outside), a 100% organic sheet, an SPF 55 sun shade (great for playtime and naps outside), a plush sheet for colder locations, and a backpack to carry it all through the airport. I love that it has easy access for toddlers to go in and out with the side zipper. This is my favorite playpen I’ve used!

Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair

I am in love with this high chair! My favorite part is that you don’t need the tray (but you can get it here if you want it), so your baby can sit right with the family at the table. Plus, you just have to wipe down the table instead of cleaning a clunky tray after meals. I also love that it grows with your child all the way to adulthood! Plus, it doesn’t take up much space in your kitchen, and it’s pleasing to look at. Plus, it includes the really important foot rest that matters so much as babies learn to eat. Really, I could go on and on about the amazingness of this high chair. It’s one of my top recommendations.

Newton Baby Essential Crib Mattress

This mattress is Greenguard certified (huge plus for me!), plus it’s washable and breathable — all important needs for me when choosing a crib mattress. I love that you can use it for your toddlers too.

Nuna Tavo Next Stroller

I know it’s expensive, but it’s such a nice stroller. Everybody who pushes it comments on how it glides and turns. We say that our baby rides in luxury, and since she spends a lot of time in her stroller, we don’t want it any other way. Our favorite part about it is how easily the Nuna Pipa Infant Carseat fits right on top of the stroller with no extra accessories or assembly! Plus, it doesn’t use any flame retardant chemicals. The one thing we don’t like is that any extra additions, like a baby tray or cupholder have to purchased separately.

Nuna Pipa Infant Carseat and Base

Which brings me to the Nuna Pipa Infant Carseat and Base. Again, I love Nuna items because they are on the natural side, so they’re worth the price to me. Even if you don’t choose the Nuna Pipa carseat, I highly recommend getting a carseat that you can use without a base. A base is great for in your car, but it’s so helpful to have a carseat that can also be strapped in with a seatbelt. That way your parents/family/friends can take your baby in her carseat without purchasing another base or removing your base from your car. Or you can take your carseat on the plane (airplane approved!) and then into Ubers, Lyfts, or taxis with ease.

Infant Optics DXR-8 Non-Wifi Video Baby Monitor

This baby monitor is the BEST! I chose it because it doesn’t use wifi. Babies do not need wifi so close to them because it’s not good for their little bodies. Plus, I don’t like that people can hack wifi and access your monitor (creepy!). I also like that this monitor has video, and you can talk to your baby through it. It’s easy to travel with and easy to set up because no wifi is needed; you just need an electrical outlet for the camera and for the monitor. This is THE baby monitor I recommend.

Lovevery Play Gym

It’s an activity mat and play gym for babies and toddlers. Start with it as a comfy mat for you newborn, add the gym for your infant, and use it is a tent for your toddler. It has so many great features that are worth looking into. This was used every day in our house for at least a year!

SkipHop Explore & More 3-Stage Activity Center

Another grow-with-your-baby item (can you tell I love those), this activity center can be used from when your baby is 4 months old through preschool-age. We’ve used it every single day since opening the package when our daughter was 4.5 months old. We’ve since converted it to the table option and purchased the matching chairs. I highly recommend.

Ikea Sniglar Crib

There are so many options for cribs, and to me, many of them seem the same. I went with the Ikea Sniglar crib because 1) it’s relatively inexpensive 2) it’s attractive 3) it’s made of natural wood and not painted with anything my daughter can bite off and 4) it converts to a toddler bed. The Newton mattress we use fits perfectly in the crib, and we lowered it from the higher position to the lower position just fine.

Keekaroo Changing Pad

If you want to avoid more laundry, use this changing pad! Most changing pads require you to use changing pad covers that get messy a lot. Not this changing pad though – just a quick wipe and it’s clean and ready to go for the next change! Plus, it’s thick, comfy, and attractive! It also has stayed on our dresser nicely, and it slides under the crib really well too as we’ve transitioned to changing a toddler.

Baby Accessories

These are the extra items I love having!

AirDoctor 1000

This is a very pricey air purifier, but it is a necessity at my house. The AirDoctor 1000 is the smallest AirDoctor available, making it perfect for a nursery. Our daughter’s AirDoctor runs 24/7 because AirDoctor purifiers are , as they say on their website, “1,000 times more effective than ordinary air purifiers.” They capture viruses, pet dander, smoke, bacteria, mold, and pollen. Visit their website to see their third party testing on removing bacteria and viruses from the air.

Yogasleep Whish & Rohm Portable White Noise Machine

I like the travel bundle because it comes with a large noise machine for home (with tons of sound options) and a travel sound machine for on the go. They’re quality items and work well!

Himalayan Glow Salt Lamp

This dimmable lamp is so calming and the perfect light to use when up in the night feeding your baby, changing diapers, etc. Plus, it’s so pretty to look at and provides soft light for you and your baby’s eyes.

Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail

Lots of people say to skip the diaper pail, but I love ours. We chose steel because plastic seems to absorb a lot of odor. We keep ours right next to our AirDoctor air purifier, and there is no smell for us. (And I don’t have time to take out our kitchen garbage every day, which I would have to with the stinky toddler diapers we’ve got now!) Plus, we use regular garbage bags in ours with no issues, so you can save money on buying those expensive pail-specific bags.

Skip Hop Baby Bath Rinse Cup

We’ve used this during every single bath since our baby was born! I even travel with it because 1) it’s great for keeping the water away from my daughter’s eyes and 2) she loves playing with it in the tub.

Angelcare Baby Bath

I loved using this baby bath with my daughter. It’s inexpensive yet works well. I also bought this hook to hang it on in the bath to keep it out of the way.

Munchkin Stainless Steel Snack Catcher

This is a great toddler snack catcher that my toddler has been using since she turned 1 year old. I put it in the dishwasher with no problem, which is great. It’s a non-plastic option, which you know by now that I also love. I would recommend having a couple to make packing for a day out and about easy.

My Brest Friend Nursing Pillow

It took me a minute to get the hang of using this pillow, but once I did, it was amazing! I used it all the time when nursing, and I really liked that it kept my daughter supported on the firm (but still soft!) surface.

Summer Bath Seat

I’m going to be honest – this felt like a little bit of overkill when I was originally gifted this bath seat. But I will tell you now – it is incredible and worth the space it takes up. I’ve used it with my daughter since she was sitting up well on her own, and it keeps her upright, contained, and not slipping all over the bathtub.

Haakaa Milk Collectors

There are two milk collectors that I got (the Haakaa Ladybug and the Haakaa Manual Breast Pump — not an actual breast pump; just a collector!) , and I really liked them both, especially at the beginning of nursing. I felt like I was wasting so much milk when I letdown but didn’t have a collector there. When I used a collector, I could collect an ounce or two of milk to save, which was so helpful for us when I went back to work.

MyMilk Breast Milk Freezer Storage

Speaking of milk collectors, I’m so glad I finally purchased these freezer storage options. Check out their website because what they’re doing is so cool. You can freeze breast milk in these trays (kind of like ice cube trays except they’re silicone and have lids) and once it’s frozen, you can store it in bags. I love them so much because you can freeze milk in 1/2 ounce portions, so you can easily thaw milk without wasting it. For example, if I froze a 4 ounce bag of milk without the freezer cubes, I’d have to thaw the entire 4 ounces, even if my baby only needed 2 ounces. With the freezer cubes, I could thaw exactly what my baby needed. Also, if I only had an ounce to freeze, I didn’t have to waste an entire breastmilk bag on just an ounce of milk. I could freeze it in the MyMilk trays instead. You can also use these after you’re done breastfeeding for freezing anything you want – or even baking! Because they’re oven and dishwasher safe.

ezpz Dishes

These are my favorite dishes, even though they’re a little bit pricier. I like that they are dishwasher safe and so durable. I also love that they’re made of silicone. The lids just might be the best part because it’s easy to pack food and take it with you, and it’s easy to store leftover meals in the fridge and serve again later. Here are the dishes we have and love:

  • ezpz Mini Mat (x2) with lids
  • ezpz Tiny Bowl with lid (perfect for first foods!)
  • ezpz Tiny Spoons (great for baby-led weaning!)
  • ezpz Tiny Cup
  • ezpz Mini Cup and Straw Training System
  • ezpz Happy Utensils
  • ezpz 14 oz Cup and Lid

Baby First Aid Kit

I assembled my own First Aid/Medical/Health kit, full of items for holistic care. This is not medical advice. Please talk to your doctor before beginning/using any supplements or medication.

BLDG Active Skin Repair

I use this for myself and with my daughter every. single. day. and I have since the day she was born. I use this spray (or they have a gel option) as a hand sanitizer, as well as for wound repair, diaper rashes, etc. It’s non-toxic and doesn’t sting!

Earthley’s Feel Better Fast

Safe for 6 months+, Feel Better Fast is my go-to for immune system support and any common illness symptoms we may have. It’s great for the whole family!

Earthley’s Baby Balm

I use this baby balm mainly for diaper rashes, but I will definitely use it if my daughter gets a burn of any kind as well. I love that it comes in a stick and is easy to apply without getting your fingers sticky.

Earthley’s No More Yeast Salve

I have used this salve multiple times on my daughter’s diaper rashes that have looked “yeasty.” It’s worked every time for us!

Hyland’s Naturals’ Baby Oral Pain Relief

This was my favorite teething relief option the first year of my daughter’s life. They melt really fast, so I wasn’t worried about her choking or anything. Plus, she loved when she got to have them.

Hyland’s Naturals’ Baby Tiny Cold Tablets

I love to use these tablets because they melt fast and, for us, they’ve been effective.

Boiron Camilia

Another option we’ve used for teething, I really like this liquid homeopathic medicine.

Boiron’s Colic Relief

Focusing on common colic symptoms, this Boiron homeopathic is an available option to try!

Badger Mineral Sunscreen Cream

My favorite sunscreen for babies.

Genexa Infants’ Pain & Fever

Acetaminophen without “dyes, artificial sweeteners, artificial preservatives, or artificial fillers,” according to their website.

HealthyBaby Monthly Diaper Bundle

Diapers aren’t technically first aid items, but they are incredibly important for a baby’s health. I just couldn’t get myself totally committed to the cloth diaper life, even though I really like the idea in theory. This was my next best option. The HealthyBaby diapers are the only EWG-certified diapers, so I love that they are non-toxic and safe for my baby to wear. I especially love the monthly diaper bundle that comes to my house when I need diapers. I do deliveries every 5 weeks, but you can edit and change when you get deliveries if you need diapers sooner or later. I also get the wipes. The quality of these diapers and wipes have been great for my family, and I recommend the bundle.

Wellements Organic Gripe Water

Some people like gripe water and other people don’t. I used it with my daughter, and I really liked this brand and kind. It is organic and made without preservatives.
